Aliko Dangote criticized Farouk Ahmed, the Chief Executive of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority, alleging that Ahmed’s spending exceeds his legal income and called for an investigation into him, renewing a conflict between the two men. Speaking to reporters on Sunday, Dangote claimed that Ahmed was paying five million dollars in school fees for each of his children attending a school in Switzerland. Dangote suggested that even he, despite his considerable wealth, would face an investigation for spending such an amount. Dangote stated that Mr. Farouk has four children educated in Switzerland, with the cost of their secondary school education alone being five million dollars, excluding university expenses. Dangote remarked that Ahmed’s income level does not support paying such high fees. He added that if he himself were to pay five million dollars over six years for his four children, the tax authorities would scrutinize his taxes and payments. Dangote highlighted that in Ahmed’s home state of Sokoto, many people struggle to afford school fees of just 100,000 Naira, and numerous children are out of school because they cannot afford that amount. The richest man in Africa has yet to receive a statement or response from Ahmed regarding these claims.
