According to former Senate President Bukola Saraki, the Peoples Democratic Party, or PDP, has neither a winner nor a defeat.
Saraki claimed that the way the Peoples Democratic Party’s 100th National Executive Committee, or NEC, meeting was conducted was proof that democracy and Nigeria prevailed.
The Nigeria Police Force men disrupted yesterday’s PDP National Secretariat meeting, but the party still held its NEC.
Speaking about the meeting’s conclusion, Saraki stated that participants decided to maintain party unity.
“This evening, our great party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), successfully concluded the 100th edition of its National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting,” Saraki said in a statement he signed.
It was a symbolic meeting because, based on the events of the previous 48 hours, it could have been the tipping point or the turning point that allowed people to march on into greater heights and over the Rubicon. The latter was the choice of our distinguished leaders.
There was neither a winner nor a loser today. The PDP is today’s victor. Nigerian democracy is also a winner since democracy cannot survive without a strong opposition.
Millions of our party’s members and supporters, who live in each of the 774 LGAs in the nation, also won.
“All of the leaders at the meeting decided to put aside our differences and unite in pursuit of a shared goal: forget the past, restore any damaged trust, and give peace a chance in order to win triumph for the party and the wonderful people under its golden banner.
“The encounter makes me especially thrilled for two reasons. First, we all agreed that unity was necessary to convey to the country as a whole that the PDP could only get stronger.
This is due to the fact that we are the only option that can effectively govern our nation and must meet the expectations of the majority of our citizens. Second, our candid conversations were characterized by a give-and-take mentality.
