The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has criticized Bolaji Abdullahi, the spokesperson for the African Democratic Congress (ADC), for his disapproval of President Bola Tinubu’s recent trip to Europe, stating that “Nigeria is not governed from a village square.” Party spokesman Mogaji Seye Oladejo argued that while the government focuses on strategic leadership and diplomacy, the ADC has resorted to misinformation and “pedestrian politics.” In a statement, Oladejo explained that the President’s trip is essential for engaging global partners, attracting investment, and advancing Nigeria’s economic interests rather than being a mere excursion.
Oladejo asserted that leadership is not limited to a physical presence within the country, as the government continues to function through delegated authority and clear policy. He accused the ADC of monitoring flight schedules due to a lack of its own ideas or credible alternatives for the nation. Oladejo further noted the irony of the opposition’s outrage, pointing out that many were silent during past wasteful foreign trips that lacked the clear economic goals of the current administration. He concluded by urging the opposition to provide serious alternatives instead of “meaningless noise,” maintaining that President Tinubu remains decisively in charge for the benefit of all Nigerians.
