Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, suggested on Monday that the Peoples Democratic Party may struggle in the 2027 elections due to ineffective leadership. Speaking during an end-of-the-year media chat, Wike characterized the current party leadership as unfocused, uncommitted, and unresponsive to advice. He remarked that if the party had stronger leadership, it would prioritize rebuilding for the 2031 elections instead. The Minister expressed that while the PDP might not succeed in 2027, it could eventually regain power if its leaders demonstrate genuine commitment and make better decisions. He noted that the party’s current situation matches his previous warnings about the consequences of not following the right path. Wike emphasized that leadership is vital in both associations and government and that poor choices lead to inevitable setbacks.
