The newly formed Adamawa Progressive Elders Council (APEC), an advisory body within the All Progressives Congress (APC), has announced a major initiative to unify the party and resolve internal disputes in Adamawa State ahead of the 2027 general elections. APEC’s spokesman, Ahmed Sajoh, stated that the goal is to prevent the “seasonal internal discord” that contributed to the party’s losses in the 2019 and 2023 governorship elections, which he attributed almost entirely to intraparty disharmony and the absence of a strong conflict-resolution mechanism. The council was established following consultations led by senior APC figures at the national level. The platform includes former governors, former senators, serving and former ministers, and veteran party leaders, and is intended to be a stabilizing force for the party in the state. APEC has adopted a 12-point resolution committed to producing credible candidates through transparent processes, guaranteeing free and fair congresses, promptly resolving disputes from primaries, and building effective grassroots campaign structures.
