EPL: Carragher cautions Mikel Arteta, “This is why Liverpool I played for never won title.”

Former Liverpool star, Jamie Carragher, has slammed Mikel Arteta over the Spaniard’s conservative approach to games.

He said this could cost the Gunners the Premier League title, adding that the former Man City assistant boss is making the same mistake repeatedly.

Arsenal narrowly escaped from being handed their second defeat of the season drawing 1-1 with Manchester City at the Emirates on Sunday

After just nine minutes, Erling Haalands gave Man City the lead, and Pep Guardiola’s team maintained it until Gabriel Martinelli’s thrilling equalizer in the 93rd minute.

Against Pep Guardiola’s team, who were undoubtedly defensive, Arsenal had a possession percentage of nearly 67 percent.

Carragher claimed that Arteta will be held accountable for his habit of selecting Declan Rice, Martin Zubimendi, and Mikel Merino as his conservative midfield trio.

When Ebere Eze and Bukayo Saka took the place of Noni Madueke and Merino, Arsenal was allowed to start the game.

According to Carragher, the Arsenal manager is being overly cautious, which could cost his team the championship once more.

“I believe that Mikel Arteta’s club and squad are that close to being truly exceptional in terms of winning the Premier League and possibly even the Champions League.
