Cole Palmer, a Chelsea star, has expressed his opinion about leaving Chelsea to join Manchester United.
According to Daily Express, Manchester United has disregarded the prospect of a big summer deal for the disgruntled Chelsea player.
Palmer has been linked to leaving Stamford Bridge following a difficult season for both the Blues and himself.
The 24-year-old has become a prominent player since his £40 million move from Manchester City in 2023. At the end of his first season in west London, he was named Premier League Young Player of the Year.
Palmer scored 18 goals last season after recording an outstanding 42 goal involvements that season, helping Chelsea qualify for the Champions League and win the Conference League and Club World Cup.
The England international has also scored ten goals this season, but his failure to return to his best form has raised questions over his inclusion in Thomas Tuchel’s side for this summer’s World Cup.
Palmer is reportedly unhappy at Chelsea, and according to the Daily Express, he would “welcome” a move to Manchester United, the team he grew up rooting for, once they qualified for the Champions League.
Palmer has been “impressed” with United’s comeback under Michael Carrick, who is presently the front-runner to take over as manager permanently at the end of the season, according to the source.
The Chelsea player has been strongly linked to Manchester United, although it is said that Old Trafford management has ruled out a summer deal.
Palmer is highly regarded by the Red Devils, but they do not view him as a “primary target” and will instead focus on acquiring at least two central midfielders and two defenders.
According to the Daily Express, Chelsea would seek about £90 million to part with Palmer if Manchester United changed their mind.
Palmer’s contract with Chelsea, which is set to expire in 2033, appears unlikely to be fulfilled, even if United’s interest in him has faded.
