Europa-League-Finale: Peinlich – Shearer kritisiert Amorim wegen Entscheidungen, die Manchester United teuer zu stehen kamen

Alan Shearer, a legendary player for Newcastle United, has taken issue with the tactical approach of Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim during the Europa League final.

Amorim’s choices were characterized by Shearer as “embarrassing” while the Red Devils suffered a 1-0 defeat against Tottenham Hotspur in Bilbao.

The scrappy first-half goal from Brennan Johnson turned out to be the decisive one, bringing an end to Spurs’ 17-year trophy drought.

In addition, it launched Ange Postecoglou’s team into the Champions League.

Once again, United performed poorly and hardly posed a threat to secure an equaliser. In the final moments of the match, they resorted to sending long balls and crosses aimed at Harry Maguire, who was positioned as a forward.

Shearer remarked on The Rest is Football podcast, “The game was of low quality and not good overall, but Tottenham won’t mind.”

“Let me tell you, it was shameful how Man United performed tonight and in the semi-final. They’re throwing a 6ft 5 centre back up front out of desperation and sending massive balls into the box.”
