According to Sam Amadi, director of the Abuja School of Social Thought and Politics, candidates are running against Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), rather than President Bola Tinubu.
According to Amadi, the 2027 election is the most absurd in Nigerian history.
“Everyone is running against @PeterObi for the presidency, not against the incumbent president @officialABAT,” Amadi wrote in a post on X.

Obi, who ran for president in 2023 as a member of the Labour Party (LP), will run once more in 2027.
President Bola Tinubu, the incumbent, and Atiku Abubakar of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), the front-runner in the election, will be his opponents.
