Due to protesters’ blockade of the bustling Iwo Road region of Ibadan, main roads are currently experiencing gridlock, leaving commuters and drivers trapped in Oyo.
Around ten in the morning, demonstrators organised by the Take It Back Movement assembled at the site to call for increased security and the prompt release of teachers and students who had been abducted in the state’s Orire Local Government Area.
Juwon Sanyaolu, the movement’s national coordinator, spoke during the event and stated that it was a part of continuous efforts to gain the freedom of all victims detained by kidnappers.
Until every kidnapped victim is freed, we will keep protesting. While innocent children and teachers are held captive, government leaders continue to live comfortably in their offices, he claimed.
Sanyaolu also chastised political leaders for concentrating on the 2027 elections while lives are still in danger all around the nation due to insecurity.
“The federal and state governments must take action, or they will continue to witness mass action,” he continued. We are calling for the release of all prisoners in Nigeria’s north, south, east, and west.
As protesters held banners demanding an end to kidnapping and insecurity, traffic along the main road was disrupted.
