Declan Rice, an Arsenal midfielder, was praised by former England player Steven Gerrard for his performance against Atletico Madrid in the first leg of the Champions League semi-final on Wednesday.
The folklore from Liverpool claimed that Rice dominated the match against the Spanish La Liga powerhouses.
After the game at the Metropolitano, Gerrard told TNT Sports, “I thought he (Declan Rice) was immense, especially in the first half.”
“He played a little different role, slightly deeper, and was dominant both in and out of possession.
They were pushing with two center forwards, so I believe they requested him to drop in between the center halves to give them an extra man in the build-up.
