Alhaji Sunusi Ahmad Pindiga, the Commissioner of Energy and Mineral Resources in Gombe State, announced yesterday that a delegation from Gombe and Bauchi States visited the Kolmani Oil Well Projects site to reassure local communities that the project is proceeding as planned.
He stated that this action was in response to complaints from host communities regarding the alleged dismantling of the oil drilling rig and its relocation outside Gombe and Bauchi States.
Pindiga stated in an interview, βThe visit was prompted by a report from the Host Communities regarding the need to dismantle and relocate the oil drilling rig to a site outside Gombe and Bauchi States. The host communities grew concerned and requested intervention. Upon hearing about the situation, I contacted the field base manager, who instructed us to conduct an on-site assessment. I then notified the Bauchi State Commissioner for Natural Resources. We traveled there with influential delegates from Bauchi and Gombe State.
