Nigerians calling for the formation of new states have been encouraged by former lawmaker Senator Shehu Sani to stop what he called a waste of time and money.
Instead, Sani called on people to concentrate on peaceful cooperation in a post on his official X feed on Friday.
The former member pointed out that a simple presidential proclamation is insufficient to accomplish the constitutionally complex process of state establishment.
“Those who advocate for the establishment of new states ought to quit squandering their time and money. They ought to learn to coexist peacefully. To understand the complexities, read the constitution. “The President will not simply declare or announce it,” he wrote.
According to BASEMEDIA NEWS, there has been a recent surge in requests for the establishment of new states.
