Following fan incursion, harassment, and intimidation of match officials, Gombe United was fined N2.5 million by the Nigeria National League (NNL). Gombe United was accused by the league board of breaking several rules, including not providing sufficient protection and control over its supporters. The event happened on Sunday at the Pantami Stadium during Gombe United’s matchday seven match versus Jigawa Golden Stars. At the last minute, the encounter was called off. The league body mandated that the game’s last minute be played behind closed doors at Jos’s New Jos Stadium.The sanctions include N2 million for fan misbehavior and N500,000 to cover Jigawa Golden Stars’ lodging and transportation expenses. Gombe United has until January 9, 2026, to pay the fine or risk losing three points to Jigawa Golden Stars.
