OHCSF, the Federation’s Head of Service, has responded to the news of a purported conspiracy to unlawfully prolong the term of Mr. Gabriel Tanimu Aduda, a Permanent Secretary in office.
Online media outlets reported on an alleged plot by the Federation’s defense ministers and head of civil service to illegally prolong the term of Mr. Gabriel Tanimu Aduda, permanent secretary for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Any intention to ask for an extension of Mr. Aduda’s or any other Permanent Secretary’s term was flatly rejected by the OHCSF.
Every decision pertaining to a Permanent Secretary’s tenure or retirement is made rigorously in accordance with the regulations and with the consent of the relevant authorities.
“We reaffirm our commitment to upholding the Public Service Rules, guaranteeing a safe and reliable system.
According to Rule 020909 (b) of the Public Service Rules, 2021, a Permanent Secretary may serve for a maximum of four years and may be reappointed for an additional four years if their performance is deemed satisfactory.
“Yes, these rules are the law. According to a statement signed by Mrs. Eno Olotu, Director of Information and Public Relations in the Office of the Head of the Federation’s Civil Service, “they have been enforced and will continue to be applied in the Federal Civil Service.”
Didi Esther Walson-Jack, the HCSF, also reaffirmed her steadfast dedication to respecting due process, openness, and the rule of law in the Service’s human resource management.
She stated that she is still steadfast in her support of accountability and leadership in public administration that is based on merit.
The Head of Service urged the public to disregard these and related publications and refrain from disseminating false information that would unnecessarily exacerbate tensions or erode public trust in the Civil Service.
“In order to prevent being misled, we urge citizens to rely on official sources for accurate information,” it continued.
