Engr. Farouk Ahmed, the Chief Executive of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority, has stated that he will not participate in a public conflict with Aliko Dangote regarding recent accusations. In a Wednesday post on the agency’s social media account, Ahmed clarified that any statements previously attributed to him regarding Dangote’s claims were unauthorized and did not come from him. He explained that his decision to remain silent stems from his responsibilities as a regulator in a sensitive sector. Ahmed noted that since Dangote has formally involved an investigative body, he is confident that the official process will fairly evaluate the situation and vindicate him. This follows reports that the Dangote Refinery president petitioned the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission to investigate claims that Ahmed used five million dollars for his children’s educational expenses, a petition the commission confirmed receiving on Tuesday.
