Nigeria’s coaching capacity has been further strengthened with the successful completion of the ICC Level 2 Coaching Course by 17 Nigerian cricket coaches, which was held in both Nigeria and Namibia. Thirteen coaches in all received certification from the Abuja version of the course, which was held from June 12 to June 15, 2025. Ademola Adeniyi Onikoyi, Afani Abdulhamid Ali, Agatha Obulor, Salako Azeez Adekunle, Justin Prosper Okere, Oluseye Olympio Ali, Leonard Onome Oghenekevwe, Okechukwu Onwudiwe Jamal, Richard Ikiponmwen Osamudiamen, Offong Edidiong, Okafor Somtochukwu OdinakaIn the meanwhile, four qualified coaches—Etim Blessing, Sarah Bhakita, Oyede Adeleke Mutiu, and Ibodeme Adolphus Theophilus—were created by the ICC Level 2 Coaching Course, which took place in Namibia from September 7–10, 2025. Every applicant passed the demanding test, indicating their readiness to make a substantial contribution to the growth of cricket in NigeriaMr. Uyi Akpata, president of the Nigeria Cricket Federation, welcomed the recently certified Level 2 coaches and urged them to keep aiming for greatness. He commended their accomplishment for raising Nigeria’s cricket profile and improving the country’s coaching skills. Akpata also emphasized the Federation’s objective of bringing cricket to more than 250,000 new players and urged the coaches to aggressively share their knowledge with local trainers. He emphasized how important this information transfer is to meeting the NCF’s development goals and guaranteeing the competitive and sustainable growth of Nigeria’s cricket ecosystem.
