The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority has reported a deadly collision at Iyana Meiran that resulted in two deaths and three critical injuries. According to agency spokesperson Adebayo Taofiq, a high-speeding Dangote Silo Mixer Truck suffered a brake failure near a local health center, leading to a massive pileup involving a commercial mini-bus and four tricycles. The force of the impact caused extensive damage and trapped several passengers within the wreckage. LASTMA personnel and bystanders worked to extract the victims, transporting the injured to a nearby hospital while police moved the deceased from the site. Authorities confirmed that the truck driver escaped the scene immediately after the incident. In response to the tragedy, LASTMA General Manager Olalekan Bakare-Oki extended his sympathies and issued a stern warning to operators of heavy-duty vehicles to verify the mechanical integrity of their trucks. He highlighted that speeding and neglected maintenance are primary causes of road fatalities and urged all drivers to adhere strictly to safety protocols to prevent such occurrences.
