In every one of Adamawa State’s twenty Local Government Areas where results have been announced thus far, the Peoples Democratic Party, or PDP, has emerged victorious in council elections.
There is currently only one Numan LGA where an election is pending. After being postponed from Saturday, June 13, when the elections were held in the other LGAs, the final election is taking place today.
Given that the All Progressives Congress, or APC, currently holds state government in Adamawa, many people would be surprised by the results of the council election, with the exception of those who could see that the election arrangements had been made well in advance of the political alignment that led to Governor Ahmadu Fintiri’s defection from the PDP to the APC on February 27 of this year.
The council chairmen who had previously been encouraged to run for another term under the PDP stayed in the party, despite the fact that the majority of the governor’s supporters joined him in the APC.
Remember that other parties ran against the PDP on Saturday, but they were unable to make a significant impact.
Chief Maurice Vunobolki, who led the pre-council election campaign and is the state PDP’s candidate for governorship in the 2027 general elections, congratulated the newly elected council chairmen, stating that the PDP’s victory indicates that the party is still well-liked by the populace.
The Adamawa State Independent Electoral Commission, or ADSIEC, conducted the election and is now focusing on the Numan LGA poll.
