Following the death of the retired officer, a delegation from the Defence Headquarters, DHQ, visited the family of the late Major General Rabe Abubakar (retd.) and the Katsina State Government on Sunday to offer condolences.

The delegation, headed by Major General IM Abdullahi, Chief of Administration, Army, expressed the condolences of General OO Oluyede, Chief of Defence Staff, CDS, and the Armed Forces of Nigeria, AFN.
Speaking at the visit to the family home in Katsina, Major General Abdullahi characterized the late commander as a devoted and patriotic soldier who distinguished himself for more than thirty years.
He assured the family that security agencies will seek to ensure those guilty for his death are brought to justice and stated that Major General Abubakar made major contributions to the development of the Nigerian Army and Nigeria’s security architecture.
In honor of the late general’s devotion and sacrifice to the country, Abdullahi also gave the family a national flag.
Alhaji Dikko Mu’azu Ruma, the Gado da Masun Katsina, responded on behalf of the family and expressed gratitude to the CDS and the Armed Forces for their support and unity at the time of grief.
On behalf of Governor Dikko Radda, Deputy Governor Faruk Lawal Jobe welcomed the group to the Katsina State Government House.
Major General Abdullahi expressed the military leadership’s sympathies and said that the late general was one of Katsina State’s notable sons whose contribution to the nation would be remembered.
The deputy governor stated that Major General Abubakar’s dedication to national duty would continue to motivate future generations, calling his passing a tragic loss for both Katsina State and Nigeria.
He promised that the state government will continue to support military operations meant to restore calm in the North-West and urged increased cooperation among stakeholders to address instability.
In response, Major General Abdullahi praised the Katsina State administration for its assistance to security agencies, emphasizing that maintaining long-term calm in the area still depends on military-state cooperation.
The late officer’s soul was given special prayers at the Government House and the family home. The Theatre Commander of Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Major General WB Idris, General Officer Commanding 8 Division, Major General BP Koughna, Rear Admiral AM Haruna, Air Vice Marshal AY Abdullahi, Major General JS Bindawa (retired), Brigadier General SK Usman (retired), and Air Vice Marshal IS Kaita (retired) were among those who accompanied the delegation.
