Members of the House of Representatives requested that the Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School, Maga, in the Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State be renamed after the Vice Principal who was killed, Hassan Yakubu Makuku.
The request was made on Monday when a delegation of lawmakers, led by Speaker Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, paid a condolence visit to Governor Nasir Idris.
In a statement released by the Governor’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Yahaya Sarki, the Speaker honored the late Vice Principal as a hero who died while actively trying to safeguard students during the school attack. He encouraged the governor to commemorate him, including by renaming the school in his honor.
Governor Nasir Idris immediately consented to the request, approving the school’s renaming after the deceased Vice Principal in recognition of his courage and self-sacrifice.
This visit follows the bandit attack on Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School, Maga, in the early hours of Monday, November 17, which resulted in the death of Vice Principal Hassan Yakubu Makuku and the abduction of 25 female students.
