By incorporating compressed natural gas (CNG) into their logistics operations and constructing auxiliary infrastructure throughout military locations, Bello Matawalle, Minister of State for Defense, has urged military officials to embrace clean energy options.
Matawalle stated that the transition to cleaner energy is essential to addressing contemporary security issues and lowering fuel prices while speaking in Abuja on Tuesday during the commissioning of more than 80 CNG-powered cars for the Defense Headquarters.
At the occasion, which took place at the Mogadishu Cantonment Parade Ground, Matawalle expressed his satisfaction that the military is spearheading the public sector’s shift to cleaner energy.
“It is crucial to remember that this transition marks the start of a long-term, systematic change rather than a one-time occurrence.”
Under his direction, the Defense Ministry will continue to promote policies that enhance national security and complement the nation’s environmental and developmental objectives, according to Matawalle.
He urged the high command to take further action by establishing CNG refueling stations and educating staff to operate the new systems, and he commended the military for adopting the program with what he called “commendable enthusiasm.”
He went on to say, “The Armed Forces must prepare for the smooth integration of sustainable energy into their procurement and logistics processes.”
General Christopher Musa, Chief of Defence Staff, stated that the government’s dedication to cost-effective service delivery and environmental preservation is demonstrated by the inclusion of CNG cars to the fleet of Defence Headquarters.
“CNG offers a cleaner, safer, and more affordable alternative to traditional fuel sources,” he stated.
“This program is in line with the President’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which places a high priority on sustainable development, energy efficiency, and innovation.”
