The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has threatened to shut down table water producers in Kebbi State who fail to fully adhere to established manufacturing and safety regulations.
This warning was issued by the North-West Zonal Director of the agency, Dadi Nantim Mullah, during a meeting with members of the Association of Table Water Producers (ATWAP) in Birnin Kebbi. Mullah stated that the purpose of the engagement was to ensure complete compliance with NAFDAC regulations across all production phases, expressing his belief that the training provided would improve their knowledge and lead to better compliance in producing quality packaged water.
The Kebbi State Coordinator for NAFDAC, Muyideen Folorunsho Suleiman, disclosed that he had already sealed approximately 100 packaged water factories since taking office due citing violations such as lack of registration, expired licenses, and substandard facilities.
In response, the State Chairman of ATWAP, Babangida Aliyu Bande, promised that all association members would completely comply with NAFDAC’s standards for packaged water and food production.
