Nasarawa United Regains the Top Spot in the NPFL

After a tough 1-0 victory over 3SC in yesterday’s rescheduled week 16 encounter at the Lafia City Stadium, Nasarawa United recaptured the top spot in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) from Ikorodu City. After a hard-won 0-0 draw with Wikki Tourists on Sunday, Ikorodu City was leading the table twenty-four hours before the fierce match in Lafia. They now have 28 points, one more than Nasarawa United, who had 27 points with a game remaining, thanks to the pivotal away point. However, Nasarawa United regained the lead with 30 points from 16 games when Moyi Hassan’s lone goal against 3SC in the 66th minute immediately altered the top of the table. Nasarawa United had lost to Rivers United by a single goal prior to the match against 3SC, giving Ikorodu City the top spot. On Sunday, December 14, the “Solid Miners” will go briefly to Plateau United, a regional rival.
