Egypt and Nigeria Pre-AFCON Friendly Postponed till October 16

The Super Eagles and Pharaohs of Egypt will now play their 2025 AFCON warm-up friendly on Tuesday, December 16 instead of Sunday, December 14. The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) claims that FIFA’s recent ruling allowing clubs to retain their players until Monday, December 15, 2025, before releasing them for the 35th Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, made this date adjustment necessary. In addition to being postponed, the game will now take place at Cairo Stadium at 8 p.m. Egypt time (7 p.m. Nigeria time) as a practice match to allow the two sides to utilize more than five replacements. The Super Eagles, 2004 winners Tunisia, 1978 runners-up Uganda, and Tanzania are all in Group C of the 35th Africa Cup of Nations finals. Nigeria will play their first game against Tanzania’s Taifa Stars on Tuesday, December 23 at the Complexe Sportif de Fes. They will also play the Carthage Eagles of Tunisia on Saturday, December 27, and the Cranes of Uganda on Tuesday, December 30.
