Nigeria at 65: ALGON acknowledges citizens’ strength in the face of adversity

The Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) has commended Nigerians for their perseverance despite the numerous challenges facing the nation.

In a statement issued on Wednesday to mark Nigeria’s 65th Independence anniversary, ALGON National Chairman, Bello Lawal, acknowledged the efforts being made to improve local government administration across the country.

Lawal called for renewed commitment to promoting peace, justice, equity, and improved welfare, particularly for the most vulnerable in all 774 Local Government Areas and Area Councils.

He noted that the number 65 symbolizes spiritual growth and major life changes, highlighting the need for continued prayer, hard work, and confidence in the nation’s ability to grow and progress.

ALGON extended congratulations to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, members of the Federal Executive Council, National Assembly, Judiciary, state governors, state assemblies, and the media on the occasion.

Lawal emphasized Nigeria’s strength and unity in the face of ongoing difficulties, expressing hope that this anniversary would serve as a source of renewed optimism and collective action toward national development.
