Ayodeji Ajayi, a Nigerian, was deported by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) due to domestic abuse and other criminal convictions.
According to the immigration authorities, the deportation is a component of continuous efforts to enforce immigration laws.According to the agency, Ajayi entered the country on a student visa in 2007, but he broke the terms of his stay by staying after he finished school.
The agency claims that Ajayi subsequently accumulated a criminal history that included convictions for intimidation, obstruction, trespassing, and domestic abuse.
It added that accusations and charges pertaining to kidnapping, rape, and family neglect were part of his criminal history.
In a statement posted on its official X account, the agency announced the deportation, characterising it as part of the administration’s efforts to expel undocumented immigrants with criminal records from the nation.
The deportation occurred at a time when US authorities are stepping up their enforcement actions against non-citizens with criminal records.
