The office of the Attorney General of the Federation and the Minister of Justice have preferred a 57-count charge of terrorism against nine people connected to the attack on a community in Benue State, to which they have entered a not guilty plea. Ado Lawal Mohammed Dunu, Alhaji Haruna Abdullahi, Yakubu Adamu, Mohammed Musa, Abubakar Adamu, Yakubu Mamman (at large, struck out), Shuaibu Adamu, Isa Yusuf Nagogo, Ado Mohammed Saidu, and Jibril Bako were among the nine suspects who denied being involved in the June 13, 2025 attack on Yelwata, Guma Local Government Area of Benue State.In the 57-count complaint read to them in court and translated in English language, the federal government said that the defendants, between May and June 2025, planned to assault the community resulting in the burning of houses, causing serious bodily damages and death of roughly 150 persons. The defendants were also charged by the federal government with recruiting attackers from Kwara, Taraba, and Nasarawa states to carry out the lethal attacks and requesting money from Ados (chiefs) in Nasarawa State.
