The 64th FirstBank Lagos Open Amateur Championship, which will take place at the Ikoyi Club 1938 in Lagos from Monday, November 17 to Sunday, November 23, has more than 300 players preparing to compete. Professionals will compete for 32 holes during the week-long championship, which is one of the nation’s oldest events. Amateur players will play 18 holes.Olusegun Alebiosu, the bank’s chief executive officer, revealed during yesterday’s press conference that the total prize payout for professional golfers has grown to N34.5 million from N5 million, emphasizing that the overall champion will earn N10 million. “We also raised the ProAm prize money shared among winners from N5 million to N34.5 million, with the first prize winner taking home N10,000,000 for a single day’s play, the biggest reward for the game of golf in Nigeria, elevating the championship and enhancing the development of professional golf within the region,” he stated.
