Paul Merson cautions that Arteta’s choice could cost Arsenal the championship this year.

Paul Merson, a former Arsenal player, has warned that if head coach Mikel Arteta keeps using midfielder Mikel Merino as a center-forward in place of Viktor Gyokeres, the Gunners won’t win the Premier League.Arsenal is presently two points ahead of Manchester City at the top of the Premier League standings. After losing their most recent Premier League game to Aston Villa last weekend, the Gunners will play Wolves this weekend. Merson told Sportskeeda, “I felt Mikel Arteta made a mistake when he used Mikel Merino as the center-forward in the game against Villa.” “I am aware that Merino scored a lot of significant goals, but Villa needed someone like Viktor Gyokeres in that lineup to unnerve the opposition since they were in excellent form. “I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: if Arsenal continues to use Merino as their center-forward, they won’t win the league.”
