The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Jigawa State has reaffirmed its commitment to stay in the party and run in the 2027 general elections under its platform, rejecting rumors of potential defections by prominent party figures.
In the midst of escalating political realignments throughout the nation, party leaders, elders, and members pledged unity and loyalty to the PDP during a stakeholders’ meeting held in Dutse on Sunday.

The gathering also reaffirmed allegiance to Dr. Sule Lamido, the former governor of Jigawa State, who was referred to as the “leader of the talakawa” and a representation of the PDP’s stability, experience, and grassroots politics.
Speakers at the gathering urged members to stay unified and dedicated to the party’s principles while promising support for Lamido’s leadership and political direction.
The development coincides with earlier rumors that Mustapha Lamido, the PDP’s candidate for governor in the 2023 general election, was thinking about joining the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), a move that many thought would increase the APC’s chances of winning Jigawa.
