Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang has disclosed that his decision to defect from the PDP to the APC was prompted by a personal invitation from President Bola Tinubu and the persistent internal crisis within his former party. The Governor explained that while he had previously declined several offers to join the ruling party, the structural instability of the PDP at the national level made remaining a member a significant risk to the mandate given to him by the people of Plateau. Mutfwang emphasized that his move was motivated by the state’s interests rather than personal gain, citing a desire to maintain a productive relationship with the Tinubu administration and ensure the state remains positioned to receive federal appointments and development favors. He concluded by noting that while the state chapter of the PDP was stable, the lack of national cohesion necessitated a shift to a more secure political platform to protect the future of Plateau State.
