Security agencies, including police tactical units, military components, and others, have launched a search-and-rescue operation for the students abducted from St. Mary Secondary School in Papiri, Niger State.
The Niger State Police Command, via spokesman SP W. A. Abiodun, confirmed that armed bandits invaded the school hostel around 2:00 am on Friday and abducted a number of students that is “yet to be ascertained.”
The police statement confirmed that combined security forces have moved to the scene and are actively combing the forests to rescue the students.
Commissioner of Police CP Adamu Abdullahi Elleman reiterated the Command’s commitment to rescuing the students unhurt and appealed to the public to remain calm and support the security operations.
