Police refute reports of an attempted assassination of Lt. Ahmed Yerima.

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has denied a widely circulated story claiming that a naval officer, recently involved in a public dispute with FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, survived an assassination attempt.
Reports had surfaced Sunday night alleging the officer was followed by unknown individuals wearing black, driving two unmarked Hilux vans without license plates. The reports indicated the pursuit stretched from the NIPCO Filling Station off the Line Expressway to Gado Nasco Way.
However, the FCT Police, through a statement from its spokesperson, Josephine Adeh, asserted that no such event occurred in Abuja.
“The Command wishes to categorically state that no such incident has been reported or recorded anywhere within the Federal Capital Territory,” Adeh said.
The police urged the public to ignore the false information and stop circulating unsubstantiated claims that could cause needless anxiety. For public safety, the Command asked residents to stay alert and report any suspicious activities to the nearest Police Division.
