Representative David Agada Ogewu, of Oju/Obi Federal Constituency, denied calling Igede youths in Benue State “fools,” clarifying that his comment was aimed only at a few “misguided individuals” who insensitively protested against Senator Abba Moro shortly after the Senator’s sons died. Ogewu’s media office stated that his rebuke was intended to protect the Igede nation’s moral reputation and described the allegation by the “illegal” Igede Youths Council (IYC) as a calculated attempt to malign his reputation. The lawmaker urged the public to disregard the accusations and warned the IYC signatories, Andyson Iji Egbodo and Smith Akoko, against being used by political detractors.
