Former legislator, Senator Shehu Sani, has urged Nigerians whose visas were recently canceled by the administration of United States President Donald Trump to return to Nigeria immediately.
In a post on the social media platform X on Monday, Sani advised the affected Nigerians and other Africans to swiftly leave the U.S. before they are detained by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
He cautioned that even if life overseas seems pleasant, migrants must always remember they are living in a foreign land, not their native country.
Sani stated: “Nigerians and other thousands of Africans who’s visas were recently revoked by President Trump should hasten and leave the country and return home before they get arrested by ICE…No matter how long you live in the comfort of your adopted home, you will someday be reminded that it’s not your father’s house.”
DAILY POST reported that this comment follows news that the Trump administration has started enforcing stricter immigration policies, which include the bulk cancellation of visas and reviews of residency permits.
This action has caused worry among immigrants from numerous African countries, many of whom are now unsure about their legal standing in the United States.
