Security in Bayelsa will continue to be our top priority, said Governor Diri

According to Bayelsa State Governor Douye Diri, his administration would keep putting the state’s security first.

In response to the release of Justice Ebiyerin Omukoro, a judge of the State High Court, Diri made the assurance in a post on his official X Twitter on Friday.

After being held captive for 12 days, the judge was released on Thursday, according to a previous article from the DAILY POST. Shortly after returning from a trip to Warri, Delta State, Justice Omukoro was abducted on the evening of Saturday, June 21, 2025, at Kilimanjaro Eatery, across from Ekeki Park.

“Following my directive, the combined effort of the security agencies, particularly men of the Department of State Services, DSS, mounted pressure on the kidnappers who fled their hideout. I thank them all for being professional in this rescue operation.

“I have ordered the arrest and legal prosecution of all individuals responsible for the kidnapping of Justice Omukoro.

“Although I join the families of My Lord, Hon. Justice Omukoro, and members of the judiciary and bar in celebrating the victim’s safe release, I am most grateful to God for his safe return.

“We have put measures in place to prioritize the security of our citizens, and the Government of Assured Prosperity will continue to make the state unsafe for criminal elements to operate,” the governor declared.
