Senators from the opposition in the Senate yesterday said that the Electoral Act (Amendment) Bill, 2026, which calls for the electronic transmission of election results, is what the lawmakers agreed upon during their retreats and behind closed doors. During a conference yesterday in Abuja, the opposition senators, led by Senator Eyinnaya Abaribe, stated that the clarification came after rumors circulated that the Senate had rejected the requirement that results be sent electronically.The following other senators attended the briefing: Austin Akobundu, Abia Central PDP member Binos Yaroe (PDP – Adamawa South), Peter Jiya (PDP – Niger South), Ireti Kingibe (ADC – FCT), Victor Umeh (LP – Anambra Central), Kabeeb Mustapha (PDP – Jigawa South West), Khalid Mustapha (PDP – Kaduna North), Mohammed Ogoshi Onawo (APC – Nasarawa South), Aminu Waziri Tambuwal (PDP – Sokoto South), Tony Nwoye (LP – Anambra North), Abdul Ningi (PDP – Bauchi Central), and Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan (PDP – Kogi Central).
