Patients Seek Private Care Due to Health Workers’ Strike

Patients throughout Nigeria are suffering as a result of the protracted industrial action, which began more than two months ago when the Joint Health Sector Unions (JOHESU) went on strike nationwide. Many have been forced to leave public hospitals, postpone necessary treatments, and look for more expensive alternatives in private facilities. The 84th day of the strike began on Friday, paralyzing operations at government-owned hospitals nationwide, leaving patients stranded and forcing many to seek necessary medical care outside of public health facilities.
