Former Nigerian Senator Shehu Sani claims that Igbos residing in Northern Nigeria are not considering returning to their South Eastern states of origin, despite recent calls to do so due to the worsening security crisis.
Sani stated that those instigating the call for Igbos to return home are wasting their time, as the Ndigbo in the North are not contemplating leaving.
Recounting his attendance at an Igbo day celebration in Kaduna, Sani described the attendees as successful businessmen, entrepreneurs, academics, and traders, many of whom have lived in the North for decades or were born there.
On his X account, he advised those making the calls to stop, pointing out the hypocrisy of someone “renting a room in Manchester or Minneapolis” telling a person with “shopping malls and estates in Kaduna or Kano to ‘return home’.” He concluded by saying, “We are ok together here.”
