Six criminals who specialize in armed robberies, vandalism, and terrorizing several villages in the state’s Anambra South Senatorial District have been taken into custody by the Anambra State Police Command.
The arrest was made following various joint operations conducted around the state’s three senatorial zones by a security team consisting of police and vigilante operatives, according to a press statement issued on Wednesday by SP Tochukwu Ikenga, spokesman for the state police command.
“The vigilance exercise is ongoing in the three senatorial districts of the State,” Ikenga said, adding that police officers seized various quantities of cable lines that had been vandalized by the suspects as well as other lethal weapons, including a revolver, during the operations.
He declared, “With the arrest of six suspects for armed robbery and vandalism, police officers have made significant progress in the Anambra South Senatorial district.” The suspects were found to have damaged electrical lines and an English handgun.
“The exercise was conducted by the joint security team, which consists of police officers and Anambra State Vigilante agents. They will continue their security dominance operations in the state’s three senatorial districts.”
In order to preserve law and order throughout the state, the security team has continued its security assault in the region since then.
“The command has also declared a manhunt for a notorious cultist and gunrunner known as ‘Kiss me’. They have also recovered one English pistol and vandalised electric cables in separate operations in the area.”
Breaking down the exercise, Ikenga said on May 19, in a separate operation by the police operatives, two suspects were arrested at Ifite village, Oko and one English Beretta pistol was recovered.
“In the evening of May 19, 2025, two suspects, namely: Anagor Chinedu ‘M’ aged 25 years and Anagor Rapuluchukwu ‘M’ aged 23 years, were arrested at Ifite village, Oko and one English Beretta pistol was recovered.
“The suspects confessed to being members of beggars’ confraternity and mentioned their Armourer as ‘kiss me’. Meanwhile, the operatives have launched a manhunt operation aimed at dislodging the criminal group,” he added.
Ikenna Oke, Chukwuka Usulor, Chukwuemeka Michael, and Ebuka Okeke were among the four suspects detained after police officers swiftly responded to a distress call about some criminals damaging electrical wires at the Federal Polytechnic Oko’s permanent location, he added.
Various amounts of cable wires were collected by the operators. He continued, “The Command is still dedicated to preventing the criminals from having an area to wreak havoc.”
