In response to the growing violence and murders in the area, the Northern Elders Forum (NEF) has called on the federal government to step in.
According to Naija News, on June 20, a mob set a bus full of wedding guests traveling from Zaria, Kaduna, to Quan Pan LGA in Plateau on fire, killing around 12 persons. Smartphones C71
A few of the travelers were injured in varying degrees.
NEF characterized the incident as a disturbing reflection of the nation’s growing security crisis and leadership failure in a statement released on Tuesday by spokesperson Abubakar Jiddere.
In addition to denouncing the heinous slaughter of defenseless Nigerian tourists, the forum expressed its profound shock at the planned killing.
The NEF stated that the obligation to protect life and restore order is not a favour the government grants but a constitutional imperative.
The forum highlighted the widespread insecurity across the region, adding that in the north-west, villages are emptied and lives are stolen through mass abductions and killings.
The statement reads, “This country is bleeding, and it is bleeding from the North.
“The obligation to protect life and restore order is not a favour the government grants, it is a constitutional imperative. Failure to act now is not just negligence. It is complicated.
In addition to being a crime against humanity, this planned tragedy is a glaring indictment of a country that has lost its hold on its most fundamental governing responsibility: the defense of human life.
There is still horror in the Northeast. Random murders and kidnappings have grown commonplace in the North-Central.
