The Enugu State Ministry of Health has sealed an unlicensed hospital and arrested a fake doctor in the Obollo-Etiti area of Udenu Local Government Area for operating illegally and endangering patients.
According to a Sunday statement released by the ministry’s Public Relations Officer, Ugodu Avemaria, the operation was coordinated by the Commissioner for Health, Prof. George Ugwu. The team discovered alarming evidence of the facility’s unsanitary and unsuitable conditions.
The statement identified the alleged fake doctor as Mr. Kenneth Mamah and his establishment as St. Joseph Memorial Hospital, located in the Ada-ulo Obollo-Etiti Community.
Avemaria reported that the enforcement team, acting on reliable tips and complaints from local residents, recently raided the facility. They found that the owner had been performing surgical procedures in his consulting room and carrying out other medical practices in an environment completely unfit for any type of surgical care.
The self-proclaimed doctor lacked a medical license, had no professional training, and possessed no authorization from the state health ministry. Despite these facts, he was routinely performing operations, thereby risking the lives of unsuspecting patients seeking medical help.
