The CIO Golf Classic in Port Harcourt’s organizer, Chief Ikenna Okafor, Chairman of Keeves Global Leasing, has announced plans to increase the tournament’s prize money to N100 million ($70,000 USD) for its upcoming November 2026 edition. The announcement follows the successful conclusion of the sixth edition at Python Golf Club in Port Harcourt, which included Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara at the closing ceremony and awarded a purse worth N75 million ($50,000 USD).Speaking over the weekend in Lagos, Okafor presented his plan to use international currency pegging to preserve the CIO Golf Classic’s popularity on a global scale, transforming it into Nigeria’s top golf competition and incorporating it into the Safari Tour in Kenya. According to him, βThe truth is that I have a big dream for the CIO Golf Classic. We are pleased that this year’s tournament in Port Harcourt, where professional golfers battled for a prize worth N75 million, was a success. However, we plan to expand it the following year with a purse worth N100 million, or $70,000 USD.
