Former National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Olisa Metuh, revealed that President Bola Tinubu repeatedly requested that he defect and join the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Metuh stated that Tinubu even dispatched his Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila (then Speaker of the House of Representatives), to contact him. Addressing journalists in Abuja, Metuh explained that Tinubu had consistently urged him to join the APC and work with him, but he repeatedly declined, even after leaving active politics in 2022. Metuh disclosed that Tinubu reached out to him for comfort and collaboration even when he was facing his legal issues, which stemmed from his involvement in the 2015 “Dasukigate” scandal. This led to his imprisonment after he was convicted for receiving N400 million from the Office of the National Security Adviser under Sambo Dasuki and failing to prove the funds were used for former President Goodluck Jonathan’s election campaign.
