Tuggar: “We supplied intelligence for the US strike.”

Foreign Affairs Minister Yusuf Tuggar has revealed that the Nigerian government provided the critical intelligence used by the United States for its recent counterterrorism airstrikes. During an appearance on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily, Tuggar explained that the operation followed two separate phone calls with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, totaling twenty-four minutes of discussion before the strikes occurred. According to the minister, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu granted formal approval for the mission after being briefed on the coordination. Tuggar noted that both nations reached an agreement to present the action as a collaborative effort against terrorism rather than a religiously motivated intervention. He emphasized that the primary objective of the joint operation was the protection of Nigerian citizens and denied any religious underlying purpose for the strikes.
