Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, the Minister of Interior, has assured stakeholders of the Federal Government’s dedication to a safe and seamless competition by pledging full support for the All Africa Challenge Trophy (AACT) to be successfully hosted in Abuja.
During a courtesy visit to his office on Wednesday, Lami Ahmed, President of the Ladies Golf Association of Nigeria, and members of her team received the assurance from the minister.
Tunji-Ojo praised women’s growing golf engagement, characterizing them as powerful leaders and contributors to the growth of the country. He also commended LGAN’s leadership, pointing out that running such an organization requires commitment, vision, and perseverance.
He praised Nigeria for obtaining the opportunity to host the continental championship and called it a noteworthy achievement. The minister instructed the Nigerian Immigration Service to set up a special desk to manage arrivals and logistics in cooperation with LGAN officials in order to provide participants with a smooth experience.
The minister also promised that sufficient security measures would be implemented through interagency cooperation to ensure officials’ and attendees’ safety during the event. He emphasized that his ministry’s primary goal is still security, and he promised to send out the staff and supplies needed to make the championship a success.
In order to improve the event’s overall execution, Tunji-Ojo also reaffirmed his dedication to developing alliances and bolstering cooperation across pertinent agencies.
Ahmed previously revealed that Nigeria would host the AACT from November 2 to 14 in Abuja, stating that the competition is anticipated to draw competitors from over 30 African nations, establishing Nigeria as a center for both sports and diplomacy.
She listed the main areas where LGAN needs assistance, such as interministerial cooperation, corporate collaborations, security, and visa facilitation. In order to carry out the massive event, Ahmed continued, the local organizing committee is putting in place an operational framework worth N547 million.
She stated that the competition is in line with national priorities on tourism, youth involvement, women’s empowerment, and projecting Nigeria’s international image, and she asked for strategic collaborations to guarantee a smooth, safe, and internationally competitive championship.
Similarly, Samuel Anyamele, a former vice president of the Nigeria Golf Federation, has praised Nigeria’s selection to host the 2026 All Africa Challenge Trophy, characterizing it as a major chance for the nation’s advancement in both sports and general development.
Anyamele pointed out that holding a competition of this magnitude will significantly improve Nigeria’s reputation as a location for international athletic competitions.
