Alvaro Arbeloa, the manager of Real Madrid, has provided an explanation for his team’s 2-1 loss to Bayern Munich in the first leg of their Champions League quarterfinal on Tuesday.
The Bundesliga powerhouses won thanks to goals from Luis Díaz and Harry Kane, giving Real Madrid a difficult task ahead of the return leg next week.
During his post-match interview with reporters, Arbeloa acknowledged that two particular mistakes against Vincent Kompany’s team proved to be lethal.
“With a little more luck in the second half, we might have avoided this defeat,” Arbeloa remarked.
“We knew we were up against a strong team. We needed to avoid the two mistakes and turnovers we made, which we had talked about before the game and at halftime.
