WAFCON 2024: Madugu claims Super Falcons deserved their win against Banyana Banyana

As reported by , Justine Madugu, the head coach of the Super Falcons, is of the opinion that his team merited a victory over South Africa’s Banyana Banyana.

Nigeria secured a 2-1 win against their long-standing rivals in the semi-finals of the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations on Tuesday night.

Captain Rasheedat Ajibade put the Super Falcons in front as they controlled the first half of play.

South Africa retaliated post-intermission, with Linda Motlhalo netting an equalizer via a penalty kick.

Michelle Alozie scored the winning goal for Nigeria in the late stages of the match.

Madugu acknowledged that it was a challenging encounter for his team.

“Yes, the game was tough, no doubts about that. “Everybody was aware that it wouldn’t be an easy match,” the 61-year-old remarked post-match.

“Ultimately, our goal was to win, and that came to pass, so we’re pleased to be in the finals.”

The final will be contested on Saturday by Nigeria and Morocco.
