‘We are here to win AFCON’ — Super Eagles star Onuachu reaffirms Nigeria’s goals ahead of Tunisia clash.

Paul Onuachu, a striker for the Nigerian Super Eagles, stated unequivocally that the team’s goal in Morocco is to win the AFCON 2025 championship.

Paul Onuachu has reaffirmed the Super Eagles’ goal for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, stating that the team came to Morocco with only one goal in mind: to win the championship.

The striker emphasized the value of concentration, quality, and taking each game as it comes ahead of a crucial Group C matchup against Tunisia.

Onuachu emphasized the importance of the game in a pre-match interview with the media, characterizing it as a pivotal point in Nigeria’s group campaign.

“Nigeria is a big country, Tunisia is also a football nation, but we have good players and a good squad to really take it to the next level.”

The outcome will decide whether the Super Eagles place first in the group or second, according to the towering forward.

The former Genk striker also backed Nigeria as one of the tournament favorites, citing the team’s depth and experience.

“I think so, because the quality of players we have playing in European top competition, I think we have good players to really stand out,” he added.

Onuachu stated that Nigeria’s ambition has never been questioned, even as he acknowledged the strength of other contenders in AFCON 2025.

“I think there are a lot of strong teams,” he explained. “Already coming here, we have it at the back of our mind that we are here to win the AFCON, but we have to take one game at a time.”

‘We are here to win AFCON’ — but focus remains game by game’, he added.

He did, however, issue a warning about getting too excited too soon in the tournament.

Onuachu played in the second half of Nigeria’s 2-1 triumph over Tanzania to start their campaign.

The Super Eagles will now play Tunisia once more on December 27 at 21:00 WAT.

If they win, they will advance to the round of 16 and possibly solidify their position as group leaders.
